Woman Found Dead in Southampton Home – Murder Probe Underway
A 38-year-old woman was found dead at a Southampton house, police have confirmed. The victim has been named as Margarida Ressurreicao.
A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder but has since been released on conditional bail as the investigation continues.
Family Mourns “Very Good and Kind” Margarida
Emergency services rushed to Redwood Way just after 1:30pm on Sunday, 5 October. Margarida’s family, supported by specialist officers, described her as a “very good and kind person” who will be “deeply missed.”
“We would like to thank everyone who has sent their condolences and everyone who knew Margarida,” the family said in a statement.
They urged anyone with information to come forward urgently.
“We are continuing to work very closely with the police and are being supported by family liaison officers. If you have any information about Margarida that you think might be useful, we would urge you to speak with the police urgently.”
The family also requested privacy as they cope with their shocking loss.
Neighbours Shocked by Sudden Death
Residents of the normally quiet Redwood Way were left stunned by the tragedy.
Seventy-six-year-old Rita Butcher told the Daily Echo, “Around here it is usually pretty quiet. We never get any sort of problems like this at all. So it is quite a shock really.”
Other neighbours described the incident as “very sad” and “horrible.”
Man Released on Bail as Police Probe Deepens
The 39-year-old suspect was released on conditional bail until 5 January 2026. Police are expected to conduct a lengthy investigation involving forensic work and witness interviews.
