Joey Barton and Mate Accused of Brutal Attack
Former footballer Joey Barton, 43, has been charged with a violent assault alongside Gary O’Grady, 50. Both men face serious allegations after a man was left badly injured near a Merseyside golf club.
Serious Injuries Near Huyton Golf Club
Merseyside Police were called to Fairway, close to Huyton and Prescot Golf Club, at around 9pm on Sunday. Officers found a man with severe injuries to his face and ribs. He was rushed to the hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.
Police Close Road as Investigation Unfolds
The nearby road was shut down while police conducted their inquiries. Barton, from Widnes, and O’Grady, from Huyton, were both charged with Section 18 wounding with intent – a grave offence indicating a planned attack.
Court Appearance Today
The duo are set to appear at Wirral Magistrates’ Court today to face the charges.
