Wireless Festival is sticking with Kanye West as its headliner—despite major sponsors like Pepsi and PayPal pulling out. Festival Republic chief Melvin Benn has slammed critics and backed Ye in a bold defence.

Benn, known for his anti-fascist views and support for both Jewish and Palestinian communities, revealed his own battles with mental illness. That personal experience shapes his plea for forgiveness.

“What Ye has said about Jews and Hitler is as abhorrent to me as it is to the Jewish community, the Prime Minister and others… Taking him at his word – to Ye now also,” Benn said.

“Ye’s music is played on commercial radio stations in this country… We are not giving him a platform to extol opinion of whatever nature, only to perform the songs that are currently played on the radio stations… and listened to and enjoyed by millions.”

“Forgiveness and giving people a second chance are becoming a lost virtue… I would ask people to reflect on their instant comments of disgust at the likelihood of him performing (as was mine) and offer some forgiveness and hope to him as I have decided to do.”

Wireless Digs In—No U-Turn on Kanye

Despite losing key sponsors, Wireless Festival refuses to cave in. While many expected organisers to drop Kanye, Benn’s hardline stance means Ye will take centre stage this July 10–12.

The big question: can Kanye keep his explosive and offensive remarks off the summer crowd’s ears?

UK Home Secretary Could Still Block Kanye

The drama isn’t over. The UK Home Secretary holds the power to ban Kanye from entering the country — a move that could wreck his headline slot.
