Three people have escaped without injury after a dinghy capsized off the Isle of Wight, prompting a major response from Coastguard and RNLI teams.
Solent Coastguard received reports of three people in the water near Gurnard Point, off Cowes, at around 5.30pm on Sunday, 23 August.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency confirmed that Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams were immediately tasked to the incident.
The Cowes RNLI lifeboat was also launched as rescue crews responded to reports that the occupants of the dinghy had been thrown into the sea.
However, before emergency teams reached them, all three people managed to make their own way safely back to shore.
No injuries were reported.
The incident prompted a rapid multi-agency response because of the potential danger posed to people in the water around the Solent.
No further details have been released about what caused the dinghy to capsize.
