A Bradford drug dealer who operated the “night shift” for an established heroin and crack cocaine line has been jailed for 46 months.
Mohammed Butt, 31, of Waverley Avenue, Little Horton, was arrested after officers from Operation Phoenix spotted him driving despite being disqualified.
Following his arrest, police found Butt in possession of two mobile phones and £799 in cash.
A search of his vehicle also uncovered cannabis and around £50 in loose change, which prosecutors said appeared to have been kept as a drugs “float”.
Investigators examined telecommunications data which showed an unbranded drugs line was diverted to another telephone number during the daytime.
However, the number used during the night was linked to Butt’s personal details and was regularly used to contact people who bought Class A drugs.
The evidence led prosecutors to describe Butt as effectively operating the night shift for the drugs line.
Sentencing him, Recorder Tom Little KC told Butt: “You were in control of, for at least part of the day, a significant drugs line.”
Butt admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin, being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, possession of cannabis, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
He was sentenced to 46 months in prison.
