Thornton Heath Teen, 16, Fatally Stabbed – Murder Investigation Underway
Heartbreak in South London
Demarie Omare Roye, just 16, has been named as the boy who was fatally stabbed in Thornton Heath last week. Found injured in the street around 3pm on Friday, 9 July, Demarie was rushed to a south London hospital by members of the public. Despite desperate hospital treatment, he died on Sunday, 11 July.
Police Make Two Arrests, Still Hunt Witnesses
Detectives have already arrested two suspects but urge anyone who saw anything to come forward. The stabbing is believed to have happened on Bensham Manor Road near the Swain Road junction just minutes before Demarie was found.
Crucial Clues: Blue Bike and Dark Moped
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, leading the murder probe, described Demarie as “popular” and said his death has shattered his family and friends.
She revealed Demarie might have been riding a blue mountain bike before the attack. “If you saw Demarie in the area, with or without the bike, or witnessed anything suspicious, please contact us,” Blackburn said.
Police are also searching for a dark-coloured moped that may have been seen abandoned, concealed, or ridden nearby either before or after the stabbing. The moped might not have had a number plate.
Call for Tips to Crack the Case
“No piece of information is too small,” Blackburn stressed, as officers appeal to the community for help.
