Woman Mauled to Death by Dog in Caterham
A woman in her twenties has died after a brutal dog attack in Caterham, Surrey. Police rushed to Gravelly Hill at around 2.45pm on Thursday after reports of the animal attacking members of the public.
Tragic Death and Another Injured
At the scene, emergency services declared the victim dead. While formal identification is yet to be completed, Surrey Police confirmed the next of kin have been informed. A second woman suffered dog bites and was taken to hospital, but her injuries are not life-threatening.
Police Hunt Over, Suspects in Custody
Armed officers, backed by the National Police Air Service, responded swiftly. Chief Inspector Alan Sproston said:
“Our thoughts are with the woman who sadly died this afternoon. This incident will worry the local community, and I’d like to reassure them that we believe all involved have been found and are in police custody.”
He added the investigation is ongoing and urged the public not to speculate about what happened.
