Cash Machine Skimmer Busted Near High Street Shop
Scumbag criminals have been illegally fitting skimming devices on ATMs to steal cash, card details, and PINs for fraud. Now, one such crook has been caught red-handed.
Igor Murzac Caught Loitering by ATM
Igor Murzac, 43, was spotted hanging around an ATM outside a High Street shop in May. A quick-thinking victim noticed him watching closely as her cash withdrawal failed.
She immediately reported the suspicious activity to shop staff and the police.
Police Snap Up Fraudster with Skimming Kit
Officers rushed to the scene and spotted Murzac driving off. They found and arrested him nearby on suspicion of damaging the cash machine.
Under a nearby hedge, cops discovered a skimming device along with car keys Murzac had tossed away. A search of his car uncovered a stash of crime tools — a crowbar, metal hooks, sticky cards, and scissors.
Officers also removed another skimming device packed with stolen cash from the ATM itself.
Jailed for Fraud and Theft from Cash Machine
Murzac, from Ilford, Greater London, pleaded guilty to possessing items for fraud and stealing from an ATM. He was sentenced to one year and four months behind bars at Cambridge Crown Court.
He was also slapped with a victim surcharge as part of his punishment.
