Three Held After Hackney Stabbing – Police No Longer Seeking Public Help
Jason Romeo Fatally Stabbed in Hackney
Detectives have called off the public hunt for three men linked to the brutal stabbing of 20-year-old Jason Romeo last week. Jason was fatally wounded outside a property on Bodney Street, Hackney (E5) at around 6pm on Tuesday, 18 February. Emergency crews fought to save him, but he died at the scene.
Three Men Arrested Over Murder
Just four days after the attack, police arrested three suspects aged 22, 21, and 21 on suspicion of murder. The trio remain in police custody as the Met’s Specialist Crime Command pushes ahead with the probe.
“I would like to thank the public for their support following an appeal issued yesterday to identify three men,” said Detective Superintendent Kelly Allen, lead investigator. “This investigation is progressing quickly, and our officers are working tirelessly to get justice for Jason and his family.”
Appeal Now Focuses on Two Other Men
Though the initial appeal for the three suspects has been withdrawn, detectives are still seeking witnesses. They want to identify two other men believed to have been in the area when Jason was killed.
“We are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have information which could support this investigation to come forward,” added Det Supt Allen. “Even small details could be crucial.”
Community in Mourning as Police Press for Info
Friends and family have paid touching tributes, describing Jason as a “kind-hearted and ambitious young man.” The community remains stunned by the tragedy.
