Body Found in Sandwich Water Spurs Police and Rescue Response

Kent Police and emergency services were scrambled to Rope Walk in Sandwich on Tuesday morning after a road sweeper spotted a body in the water. The grim discovery followed a welfare check earlier in the day.

Rescue Teams Hunt Water as Area is Sealed Off

  • Coastguards in drysuits searched the water from around 8.30am.
  • Part of Rope Walk was cordoned off by police crews.
  • A coastguard search and rescue team from Deal joined the efforts.
  • Kent Fire and Rescue sent a fire engine and officer to assist at 9.22am.

Man in His 50s Found Dead, No Suspicion of Foul Play

A Kent Police spokesman confirmed: “Kent Police was called to Woodnesborough Road, Sandwich at 9am on Tuesday 29 November 2022 following concern for a man in the area.”

“Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service. A man in his 50s was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

The death is not being treated as suspicious. A report will be prepared for the coroner as investigations continue.
