Dartford Police Clampdown: Stop and Search Powers Boosted After Spike in Violence
Dartford is getting tough after a recent surge in disorderly behaviour. From 2.30pm Friday 21 April to 2.30pm Saturday 23 April, officers will have extra powers to nip trouble in the bud.
New Powers in Key Hotspots
The crackdowns will hit areas including Instone Road, Home Gardens, Highfield Road, Lowfield Street and Westgate Road. Officers can now stop and search any pedestrian or vehicle suspected of carrying weapons.
Top Cop’s Warning to Troublemakers
Chief Inspector Will Lay, District Commander for Dartford, warned: “A small number of individuals are causing violent crime in the town centre. Officers will be out on mobile and foot patrols all day to stop further offences and reassure local residents and businesses.”
He added: “The extra stop-and-search powers will be targeted to ensure anyone coming to Dartford to commit crime is caught. Anyone found with weapons or drugs will be arrested and taken into custody immediately.”
