A 35-year-old man has died following a late-night collision in uk/where/sutton-coldfield/">Sutton Coldfield, shortly after failing to stop for police. The crash occurred just before midnight on Lindridge Road, near the junction with Springfield Road.
According to a statement from West Midlands Police, officers attempted to stop a van when it failed to comply. Moments later, the vehicle crashed, prompting immediate emergency response from police at the scene.
“Officers began CPR before ambulance colleagues arrived,” the statement reads. “Despite their best efforts, the man sadly died a short time later.”
Investigation Underway
The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) — a standard procedure in any case involving police contact prior to a fatality.
The road was closed overnight while collision investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash. No other vehicles or injuries have been reported at this time.
