Police were called to a flat in Kentish Court, Maidstone, at around 2.35pm on 25 December 2018. Officers found Parwin lying in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds. Despite emergency first aid and paramedics’ efforts, she was pronounced dead at 3.28pm.

Investigators recovered a kitchen knife at the scene, believed to be the murder weapon.

Fleeing husband caught near Dover

Officers launched a manhunt and traced Qoraishi travelling on the A2 towards Dover later the same day. He was arrested at 4.38pm and charged with murder two days later after Crown Prosecution Service approval.

Life behind bars with minimum 16 years

At Maidstone Crown Court, Qoraishi pleaded guilty to murder on 29 April 2019. He will serve at least 16 years and 82 days before being eligible for parole.

Senior Investigating Officer DCI Ivan Beasley said: “This was an unprovoked and savage attack on a defenceless young woman. Her tragic death at the hands of her husband has left a family mourning her loss.”

“Qoraishi fled the scene but was tracked down by officers near Dover. It is only right he will now spend a considerable time in prison for this brutal crime.”
