A 29-year-old man from Godalming has been locked up for seven years and two months after a horrific eight-year reign of domestic terror. Ernie Jones, born 27 December 1996, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on 10 April 2026 for a series of violent crimes against his victim.
Years of Abuse Uncovered
Police were called to the victim’s home on 20 May 2025, where she bravely revealed she had endured physical and psychological abuse from Jones for eight long years. Between January 2017 and June 2025, Jones subjected her to relentless controlling and coercive behaviour, as well as brutal physical assaults.
Shocking Details of Violence and Threats
- Repeatedly punched and kicked in the face
- Stomped on the victim’s head
- Threatened with a knife
- Property vandalism, including smashing her phone
- Denied access to her children
- Threatened to take children into care
- Filed false child neglect reports with social services
One particularly terrifying attack happened on 23 February 2025. Jones, behind the wheel with his young children in the back and the victim in the passenger seat, violently beat her after a disagreement at traffic lights — leaving her with actual bodily harm.
Relentless Harassment After Arrest
Jones was arrested on 21 May 2025 and released on conditional bail. But he persisted with unwanted contact, breaking bail conditions multiple times. He stalked and harassed the victim through frequent messages, unannounced visits to her family home, threats, and by contacting her relatives — all leaving her in serious distress. Jones now faces a restraining order lasting indefinitely to keep him away from the victim for good.
