Met Police Nab Pervert Adam Shine in Online Child Abuse Sting
Adam Shine, 25, was arrested at his Hackney home on February 6 after a National Crime Agency (NCA) tip-off. The Met’s Online Child Sex Abuse Investigation Team swooped in following evidence linking Shine to indecent images of children.
Disturbing Omegle Videos Led to Shocking Discovery
PC Lindsey Luscombe revealed Shine used the Omegle website in April 2023 to make three separate video calls to two 11-year-old girls and one 8-year-old girl. During these calls, Shine filmed himself masturbating and urged the girls to expose or touch themselves. The sick sessions were recorded and saved by Shine.
“The NCA’s information pointed us straight to Shine and his vile actions,” said PC Luscombe. “Using clues from the videos, Met officers managed to locate and safeguard one 11-year-old victim in the UK.”
Justice Served: Jail Time and Lifetime Restrictions
Shine, who worked at an adult store in central London, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on March 3 to engaging in sexual communications with the children and causing them to engage in sexual activity online. He did not meet any of the victims face-to-face.
On June 14, Shine was sentenced to four and a half years behind bars. Along with jail time, he was slapped with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and is now required to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely to protect other children after his release.
Ongoing Hunt for Other Victims
Despite exhaustive efforts, the other two victims—believed to be in the US—haven’t been identified. Omegle’s shutdown in November 2023 limited vital information. British authorities have handed over the case details to American officials.
