London Police Launch Crackdown After SW9 Chaos
Following last night’s mayhem on Overton Road, SW9, London police have launched a major crackdown tonight, Thursday 25 June. Extra officers are being deployed across the capital to tackle a spike in illegal raves, block parties, and unlicensed music events.
Extra Cops on the Beat
Authorities are working closely with local forces to stamp out the violence. Officers remain on community patrols and will respond to emergencies as usual—but won’t tolerate the recent surge in violence.
Commander Bas Javid warned: “We remain in a public health crisis and these unlicensed events are illegal.”
Heavily Equipped and Ready
To protect both the public and police, extra officers on the streets tonight will wear enhanced personal protective gear. Some units will be backed by the Dog Support Unit, ready to act fast if disorder flares up.
Javid added: “This is a direct response to our communities’ fears after the shocking violence outside their homes. We cannot accept attacks on our officers or damage to property.”
Policing Response Under Review
Police say the situation is being monitored closely, with public safety front and centre.
“Our priority is to keep everyone – including our officers – safe,” Commander Javid said.
