Police are urgently appealing for witnesses after three people were injured in two linked collisions involving the same vehicle in Tower Hamlets, East London. One man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

What Happened?

At around 9:15pm on Saturday, 14 June, officers were called to Morpeth Street, E2, following reports that a car had struck two pedestrians. A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with injuries assessed as non-life-changing and non-life-threatening. The condition of the second victim is currently unknown, and Metropolitan Police are appealing for him to come forward.

Shortly afterwards, emergency services were called to a second collision on Eastfield Street, E14.

 

A man in his 40s received treatment at the scene and was later taken to hospital. His injuries were also assessed as non-life-changing and non-life-threatening.

Arrest and Investigation

The vehicle’s four occupants fled the scene on foot after the incidents. On Sunday, 15 June, an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.

Urgent enquiries are ongoing to identify and locate the three remaining suspects involved in the vehicle.

Police Appeal

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:

“We are working to understand the full circumstances of these linked incidents and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collisions — or who has relevant CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage — to contact us.”

Community Impact

The back-to-back incidents have sparked concern among residents in Tower Hamlets, where police patrols have been increased to reassure the community. Officers have not ruled out the possibility that the collisions were intentional, pending further investigation.
