A teenager has been handed a four-month Detention and Training Order after a brutal attack on Nursteed Road last January.

Man Attacked with Wooden Bat

The shocking assault happened on January 10 when a man in his 20s was struck with a wooden bat on the Green, Nursteed Road. The victim suffered a deep head wound, lost teeth, and may have fractured his arm.

Youth Admits Multiple Charges

The 15-year-old faced Swindon Magistrates on April 11, pleading guilty not only to the assault but also possession of an air weapon and assaulting an emergency worker on April 8. He also confessed to damaging a police cell door.

Police Condemn Rising Youth Crime

Sgt Luke Atkinson for Devizes said: “This is completely disgraceful and shocking behaviour that simply will not be tolerated in our community.

We have seen an increase in youth related crime recently, and we would encourage anyone who sees anything suspicious to contact us immediately. Our officers will always respond swiftly and robustly to reports of this nature.”
