Beer Theft Sparks Racist Tirade
Thomas Mason kicked off his violent meltdown on Sunday, 26 April 2020, after being caught stealing and drinking cans of beer from a High Street shop.
When challenged by staff, Mason launched into a racist tirade. But that was just the start.
Violence and Threats Escalate
Another man stepped in to help, only to be racially abused and assaulted by Mason. Police arrived on the scene, but Mason’s fury continued.
He spat at an officer and threatened to kill the officer’s family.
Charges and Court Appearance
- Mason, who has no fixed address, was charged the next day with:
- Racially-aggravated assault
- Theft from a shop
- Assaulting a police officer
- Racially-aggravated public order offence
- He pleaded guilty at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 28 April via virtual link and was remanded in custody.
- Sentencing is scheduled for 14 May.
