M20 Shut After Serious Crash Between Van and Lorry
The M20 is completely closed eastbound between junction 1 (M25) and junction 2 (Wrotham) following a serious collision involving a van and an HGV. The westbound side is also blocked between the same junctions while an air ambulance attends the scene.
Emergency Services Swarm Scene
The crash happened around 1:47pm, with Kent Police leading the response. All emergency services, including the air ambulance, rushed to help. The road closures are to ensure the safety of responders working on site.
Two Men Injured and Taken to Hospital
Kent Police confirmed that two men involved in the crash have been treated for injuries and are being transferred to hospital.
“At around 1.45pm on Friday 11 November, Kent Police was called to a collision involving a van and a lorry on the coastbound carriageway of the M20 between junctions 1 and 2. Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service are at the scene where two men have been treated for injuries and are being taken to hospital for further medical attention. Both carriageways are currently closed while emergency services deal with the incident. The London-bound carriageway will be reopened once the air ambulance has departed.”
Travel Chaos as Delays Build
National Highways teams are managing traffic around the chaos. Westbound vehicles are held until the air ambulance leaves. Drivers caught in the eastbound jam are urged to stay put and follow police instructions.
No reopening time has been confirmed yet. Motorists are advised to avoid the M20 and divert via the M26. Expect heavy delays on the M25 near junction 3 and M20 junction 1.
