Police Nab Conman Trying to Snatch £3,500 from Elderly Victim

Jay Robinson Minz, 33, thought he was in for a payday on November 5, 2020, when he turned up at a Tent Street address to collect £3,500 from an elderly man. Instead, he found himself face-to-face with a police squad waiting behind the door.

Police Sting Targets Vulnerable Victims

Detective Sergeant Simon Seed from Northamptonshire Police’s Economic Crime Unit led the operation. He said,

“It must have been a nice surprise for Minz when he turned up to collect £3,500 from an elderly man, to find a group of police officers behind the door.”

Seed added,

“It is our job to protect the most vulnerable people in society so I’m really happy to have achieved this result for the victim in this case.”

The detective made clear that Northamptonshire Police is cracking down on these crimes. He concluded,

“I hope it demonstrates to the wider community the seriousness with which Northamptonshire Police takes crimes of this nature.”
