Sheffield Man Found Guilty of Horrific Assault

Krisztian Szabo, once of Shoreham Street, Sheffield, has been found guilty of a brutal assault that left a woman fighting for her life. The victim was left dizzy and terrified following the savage attack.

Violent Attack Caught on CCTV

Szabo’s trial at Sheffield Crown Court started on Monday, 4 January. Charged with Section 18 assault and possession of a bladed weapon, he was convicted of both on 6 January.

The terrifying incident unfolded at 7.25am on 11 August 2019. Szabo picked up his 28-year-old victim from Rutland Street and drove her to Vale Road. There, he unleashed a violent attack, punching her repeatedly and slashing her head with a blade as she desperately tried to escape his car.

CCTV footage showed Szabo’s vehicle entering Vale Road, the victim fleeing with a serious head injury, and Szabo speeding off. Forensic tests found the victim’s blood inside the vehicle.

Victim’s Harrowing Escape and Ongoing Trauma

Detective Constable Helen Critchley praised the victim’s bravery, saying:

“This must have been an absolutely terrifying attack. Szabo’s sustained assault left her feeling dizzy and scared, but she managed to escape his vehicle and raise the alarm at a nearby business. She was so terrified, she left all her belongings behind.”

The woman’s head wounds needed stitches, and she suffered multiple bruises from the punches. Critchley added,

“Szabo showed no remorse or accountability. The victim had to relive this traumatic attack in court. Thanks to her powerful testimony and the evidence we gathered, a dangerous man is now off the streets.”

She also expressed hope for the victim’s recovery: “This attack had a profound impact on a vulnerable young woman. With the guilty verdict, I hope she can start moving forward.”

Next Steps: Sentencing Scheduled

Szabo remains in custody and will return to Sheffield Crown Court on 17 February for sentencing.
