Tragic Death of Blackpool Woman After Collision Involving Her Own Car

Maria Dickinson, 72, of Blackpool, has died after a bizarre accident on Westmorland Avenue. On Friday, February 25, a Mercedes stopped to let Mrs Dickinson out. As she stepped out and walked behind the car, she suddenly collapsed and was hit by the vehicle.

She was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries but sadly passed away on Saturday, February 26.

Police Launch Appeal for Witnesses

Officers are investigating the collision and are urging anyone with information to come forward. You can contact police on 101, quoting log 1219 of 1/25.

Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute

“Farewell Maria (Zeb) Dickinson who passed away peacefully on Saturday 26th February surrounded by family,” her family said.

“Born into a family of performers, she carried on the tradition as one of The Roly Poly 1 troupe, taking her talents nationwide and across the world. Maria packed one hell of a life into her 72 years.

“Wife, mother, sister, nana, best friend – life will never be the same for those who knew her.

“A heart of gold, a smile full of joy, and a kindness felt by all. Her bold and vivacious spirit lives on through her little granddaughter, who loves to dance just like her nana.”

“Funeral arrangements are pending and will be shared when finalised. We hope everyone who wants to celebrate her incredible life will join us. Rest in peace x.”
