Samuel Geza smashed into two East Cliff homes in the early hours of Wednesday, 7 July 2021, stripping them of computers, cash, and bank cards.
Stolen Bank Card Nabbed Burglar in CCTV Sting
The second burglary was reported just before 6.30am. Police quickly linked a stolen bank card to purchases of scratch cards at a nearby shop.
A Dover Community Safety Unit PCSO spotted the suspect on CCTV and immediately identified him as Geza.
Burglar Jailed After Quick Police Work
Geza was arrested at 8.45am that morning, caught red-handed with stolen goods and the ill-gotten scratch cards.
After a probe by Kent Police’s Chief Constable’s Crime Squad, the 24-year-old from Crabble Hill, Dover, pled guilty to two counts of burglary and two counts of fraud at Canterbury Crown Court on 9 August.
He was sentenced to two years and three months behind bars on 18 August.
Detective Praises Swift Police Action
“Kent Police recognises the impact burglaries like Geza’s have on victims and communities,” said Detective Constable Mark Hunter.
“I am pleased officers acted swiftly, arresting Geza within three hours of the first report. With the solid evidence, he had no choice but to plead guilty. Now jailed, he can no longer target Dover residents.”
