Customers at The Lockside pub in Worksop were left stunned when a Landrover Discovery smashed straight into the building while they were drinking and playing pool.

Jamie Kettle, 37, fled the scene after smashing into the pub wall. In a desperate bid to dodge cops, he jumped into a nearby canal. But specialist police dogs tracked him down quickly, leading to his arrest.
Police Chase Reveals Reckless Driving and Theft
- Police had earlier been alerted about a stolen Landrover Discovery from Woodthorpe.
- Officers spotted Kettle speeding along the A614, reaching 110mph in a 60mph zone after switching onto the A57.
- Kettle dangerously overtook vehicles and ran red lights before losing control at a junction and crashing into the pub.
The wild incident unfolded on the night of 27 March 2023.
Kettle Pleads Guilty to String of Crimes
From Thoresby Close, Harworth, Kettle now faces multiple charges:
- Aggravated vehicle taking
- Dangerous driving
- Driving while disqualified and without insurance
- Criminal damage to The Lockside pub
- Theft from shops in Harworth (February and March 2023)
- Common assault on emergency workers after attacking officers in Bircotes (September 2022)
- Witness intimidation following threats to burn down a house in Retford (June 2022)
“He bent one officer’s finger back and spat at another while resisting arrest,” police confirmed.
Kettle pleaded guilty and appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on 8 December 2023. He was jailed for two years, banned from driving for three years and three months, and must pass an extended driving test to get back behind the wheel.
