Coastguards Lowered Over Cliff to Investigate Wreckage
Two Coastguard officers were lowered down Tennyson Down cliffs to get a closer look at the wreckage. They recovered a fender from the boat, while searches continue on the site. A strong smell of oil lingers around the wreckage, hinting the vessel may have sunk at sea.
Helicopter and Lifeboats Join The Hunt
The Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter from Lee-on-Solent has arrived, scanning the area from the skies. Meanwhile, two lifeboats from Lymington and Mudeford are combing the waters below.
Boat Owner Urged To Come Forward
HM Coastguard has issued an urgent appeal for the owner of a blue vessel to come forward. They are also calling on anyone with info about a blue boat in the area near Scratchells Bay, by The Needles, to get in touch.
The search operation is ongoing. More updates to follow.
