Spitting fiend snarls at cops and shoppers in Brighton – now behind bars!
Spitting rampage sparks chaos in Brighton Waitrose
Gabriel Nomafo, 25, unemployed and homeless, was caught causing havoc outside Waitrose on Western Road in Brighton. At around 9.30am on Tuesday, staff alerted police after spotting Nomafo spitting inside the supermarket.
Charged with a barrage of offences
Nomafo was arrested on the spot and faces a string of charges, including three counts of assaulting emergency workers, attempted assault, and two counts of criminal damage. But that’s not all – he’s also accused of resisting arrest, possessing cannabis, using abusive language, and causing racially aggravated harassment.
Remanded in custody ahead of next court date
The 25-year-old appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. He has been remanded in custody and is due back in court on May 6.
Police slam ‘disgusting’ spitting attacks
Chief Inspector Dee Wells said: “Spitting directly at or towards people is a disgusting action and will not be tolerated by police at any time, but particularly when we are in a situation where this action will cause even more distress than usual to those involved.”
“It is completely unacceptable and we will continue to take action against reports of any behaviour such as this.”
