Massive Drug Haul Nabbed in Harpenden

Robert Stewart, 32, from Broadwater Gardens, Orpington, was caught red-handed on Saturday afternoon, 23 April. Officers swooped on a van parked in Luton Road, Harpenden, after a tip-off from the National Crime Agency (NCA).

Van Tracked from Luton Airport

The NCA had been tailing the vehicle as it made its way from a Luton Airport car park to Harpenden. Inside the van, cops discovered around 57 kilos of Class A drugs stashed in several holdalls.

Stewart Arrested and Charged

Bedfordshire Police, assisting the NCA, nabbed Stewart nearby. Following questioning, he was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

He appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody ahead of his next hearing at Luton Crown Court on 23 May.

NCA Vows to Smash Drug Networks

Adam Berry, NCA Branch Operations Manager, said: “This was a significant seizure as part of a proactive NCA investigation targeting drug supply into the South East of England.

“We’re grateful to Bedfordshire Police for their support. This operation is ongoing as we work to disrupt organised crime networks distributing Class A drugs and the harm they bring to communities.”
