Man Found Guilty of Luring and Stabbing Victim to Death in Bromley

Kevin Lusala Convicted of Brutal Murder

Kevin Lusala, 23, from Eldred Drive, Orpington, has been found guilty of stabbing 22-year-old Ayodeji Habeeb Azeez to death in a Bromley car park on 4 November 2018. Lusala was part of a gang who lured Ayodeji under false pretences before attacking him with a large knife.

Co-Defendants Cleared of Murder but Guilty of Robbery Conspiracy

Alongside Lusala, three others stood trial. Chaise Gray, 24, from SE25, and a 17-year-old girl (16 at the time) were convicted of conspiracy to rob but cleared of murder charges. Another 18-year-old man was found not guilty of both murder and conspiracy.

Victim Lured to His Death

  • Ayodeji left his Dagenham home at 11am, driving his blue BMW to Bromley.
  • He was tricked into thinking he was meeting the female defendant, but instead faced a gang ready to rob him.
  • Lusala stabbed Ayodeji multiple times while he was still in his car.
  • Gray then took the wheel and fled, abandoning the vehicle just streets away.

Desperate Fight for Life Ends in Tragedy

Despite managing to stagger to a nearby home on Samos Road and calling for help, Ayodeji collapsed and was pronounced dead at 12:59pm by emergency services. A post-mortem revealed he had been stabbed 16 times, suffering severe internal and external bleeding.

Investigation and Arrests

Detectives recovered Ayodeji’s blood at the scene and inside the BMW. Several arrests followed in November and December, with Lusala’s arrest coming on the 19th of November.

“These are tragic events resulting in the loss of a young man’s life. Ayodeji was unsuspectingly led to his death by someone he thought was a friend,” said DCI Mark Cranwell, lead investigator.

“His family have shown remarkable courage throughout this heartbreaking investigation.”

Sentencing for Lusala and co-defendants is scheduled for Friday, 20 December at the Central Criminal Court.
