Man Jailed for Brutal Night Out Attack in Worthing

A 36-year-old man was left with a broken jaw after stepping in to stop a fight in Worthing town centre in the early hours of 7 November 2021. He was punched multiple times in the face by 29-year-old Liam Hall, who has now been locked up for his savage assault.

Assailant Caught and Charged

Witnesses identified Hall of Mendip Crescent, Salvington, as the attacker. Police patrolling the area quickly separated the pair and arrested Hall, charging him with grievous bodily harm. The victim needed emergency dental care the next day and a hospital scan confirmed his jaw was broken in two places.

Justice Served at Lewes Crown Court

On 15 November, Hall appeared before Lewes Crown Court 1 and was handed a 20-month prison sentence for the attack.

“The victim had been enjoying a night out when he saw Hall trying to pick a fight with his friend,” said Detective Nikki Thornton from Worthing CID. “He stepped in to stop things from escalating and got brutally assaulted for it. The injuries he suffered required extensive treatment, all because of one man’s reckless behaviour.”

“This kind of violence won’t be tolerated. We are working closely with venues and security teams across the night-time economy to catch offenders and keep the streets safe.”
