Bank of Ireland hit by a major technical blunder on Tuesday. For several hours, customers in the Republic of Ireland found they could withdraw hefty sums from ATMs—even with little or no money in their accounts. Long queues formed as word spread. The bank quickly admitted to the fault but assured customers the issue was fixed by Wednesday. They warned that account balances would still be adjusted to reflect the withdrawals and urged anyone struggling financially to seek help.
Admiral Loses 380,000 Customers as Insurance Prices Soar
Car insurer Admiral is bleeding customers after slapping on a whopping 20% price hike in the first half of the year. Despite a 4% profit rise to £234 million, the firm lost 380,000 policyholders over the past 12 months. Inflation and soaring repair costs are to blame, said CEO Milena Mondini de Focatiis. NatWest Slammed for Rejecting Over Half of Fraud Claims
NatWest faces a backlash after revealing it rejected more than half of fraud compensation claims last year. Out of 2,210 disputes sent to the Financial Ombudsman, 1,193 were overturned in customers’ favour. Cases included push payment scams, chip-and-pin fraud, and identity theft. Over three years, NatWest denied 5,000 claims with around 3,300 later reversed. Santander and HSBC also rank high for wrongly refusing fraud payouts, raising serious questions about banking safeguards.
