Thief Threatens Co-op Staff After Pork Chop Heist

Corey Fawsitt, 20, went on a shocking rampage at a Co-op in Bestwood, stealing pork chops and fabric softener before threatening staff with violence.

Violent Showdown at the Store

On 26 October 2022, Fawsitt swiped pork chops and later nabbed bottles of fabric softener. The next day, he returned, packed a bag with meat, and clashed with staff. During a struggle, workers got the bag back and told him to leave—only for him to come back and kick a staff member. He snarled threats like “I’ll bash your face in” and “I’ll smash your face in” at multiple employees.

Jailed and Banned for Violence and Theft

Fawsitt, who has no fixed address, was arrested and charged. He pleaded guilty to:

  • Three counts of theft
  • Three counts of using threatening or abusive behaviour
  • One count of common assault

On 2 February 2023 at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court, he was sentenced to three months behind bars. He also received a 12-month criminal behaviour order banning him from the Co-op store.

Police Warn: No Tolerance for Shop Violence

Inspector Paul Ferguson of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Fawsitt has shown a total lack of regard for the harm he has caused to shop staff and our community. He is a prolific offender who’s repeatedly threatened and abused workers, putting them in fear.”

“Behaviour like this won’t be tolerated. Our firm action should warn others we’re committed to keeping our communities safe.”
