During a drugs raid on 6 July 2019, officers found Doughty hiding in the back garden, pretending to be “Gary Monk”. Inside, they uncovered materials used to produce hardcore steroids including testosterone, trenbolone, boldenone, drostanolone, and mesthasterone.
More than 100 vials of steroids were seized, alongside documents revealing shipments to the UK, USA, and Ireland. The illegal operation had reportedly been running since 2017 and raked in over £80,000.
Partners in Crime Slapped with Prison Terms
- George Higgins, arrested at his Dover home later that month, was caught with another 300 vials.
- Samuel Winwright, who laundered the profits, was nabbed in October 2019.
At Canterbury Crown Court in January 2022, Doughty was sentenced to six years for prison escape and drug offences. Higgins received three years, while Winwright got an 18-month suspended sentence.
Cop: Doughty Ignored Justice and Risked Lives
“Doughty showed a complete disregard for the justice system by escaping from prison and committing these offences while illegally at large,” said Detective Sergeant Sam Minichiello.
“The kind of drugs he and his associates were producing are illegal for a reason: Because they are dangerous. By producing them at an unsuitable location and sending them off around the world he was putting others at danger. I am pleased our investigation has seen him arrested, charged with these offences and sent back to prison.”
