Knife Arch Crackdown Hits Gravesend Pubs and McDonald’s
Police in Dartford and Gravesend are stepping up the fight against knife crime with a high-tech weapon: a knife arch scanner. Local cops have teamed up with popular venues, including pubs and fast food joints, to catch anyone trying to sneak in blades.
Scanning for Trouble at Busy Venues
The knife arch scans entrants and alerts officers if a weapon is detected. Earlier this month, on the early hours of 13 July 2019, over 200 people passed through the scanner at the Gravesend McDonald’s. Only those willing to be scanned were allowed inside, earning praise from many customers for the police crackdown.
Zero Tolerance on Knife Carriers
Chief Inspector Neil Loudon said: “This is just one more tool we are using in the fight against knife crime. We are working with popular venues in the area. It doesn’t mean they have more problems than anywhere else—they simply want the area to be as safe as possible.
“Those who carry a knife put themselves and others in danger. They also risk prison, as we take a zero tolerance approach. We won’t hesitate to arrest anyone caught with a weapon.”
Police Promise to Keep Heads Cool
Local police vow to keep using all available resources and partner agencies to tackle knife crime head-on. The message is clear: carry a knife, and you will face the consequences. This no-nonsense approach aims to make Dartford and Gravesend safer for everyone.
