A man has been slammed behind bars after smashing his way into a Gillingham house and swiping cash and jewellery.
Back Door Busted in Daytime Raid
On the afternoon of Wednesday 15 January 2020, between 11:30am and 1:30pm, the burglar forced open the back door of a Maple Avenue property. The thief rifled through the home, leaving a trail of chaos before making off with valuable items.
Fast-Tracked Police Probe Leads to Arrest
Detectives from the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad swung into action, piecing together the crime and nabbing 41-year-old William Cassidy from Chancel Drive on 11 April.
Charged and Remanded in Custody
Cassidy now faces a charge of burglary. He was held in custody ahead of his first court appearance at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 2 April. The magistrates ordered him to remain detained as he awaits his next hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 30 April.
