Maidstone Crime Crackdown: 56 Charges Filed in One Month
The Victim Based Crime Team (VBCT), backed by the community safety unit, have slammed 56 charges after a four-week blitz on local crime.
Shoplifting and Assault Suspects in the Dock
- Oliver Millen, 30, of Union Street, Maidstone, was nabbed on March 8. He faces four counts of supermarket theft between January 27 and February 24. He’s due in Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on April 11.
- Cameron Jeffery, 19, from Vale Road, Cranbrook, is charged with two counts of shop damage in Staplehurst on March 7. He also faces assault on an emergency worker, more criminal damage at the police station, and being drunk and disorderly. Jeffery appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on March 8 and awaits Maidstone Crown Court for a later hearing.
- Joseph Daniels, 37, from College Road, Maidstone, was caught shoplifting on March 15 in Week Street. He is bailed for court on April 18.
- Jaroslav Balog, 35, was arrested on February 18 for assaulting a shop worker in King Edward Road. He is due in court on April 24.
- Nicholas Noble, 42, of no fixed address, was arrested on March 7 and charged with theft and assault at a supermarket in Castle Road, Allington. He pled guilty and got a 12-month community order plus £100 in fines and compensation.
Police Warn Persistent Offenders
District Commander Chief Inspector Mark McLellan said: “Our officers patrol Maidstone town centre and nearby villages regularly on foot, acting as a strong deterrent to criminals targeting businesses or shoppers.”
“Our team knows the usual suspects and will pounce the moment an opportunity arises. Quick responses to theft and assaults send a clear message — crimes won’t be tolerated. Offenders will be tracked down and brought to justice, whether on the street or at home.”
