Heinous Captivity: Two Men Held Hostage, Tortured in Sheffield

Two men have been handed 19-and-a-half year jail sentences after a shocking rescue from a Sheffield home. Armed police raided a house on Firth Park Road on 14 May 2022, following reports that two Albanian men were being held captive.

Chained, Beaten and Forced to Eat Like Dogs

Inside the property, officers found the victims chained to radiators in separate upstairs rooms. Starved and humiliated, the men had been forced to eat from empty dog food bowls. One suffered severe burns on his hand, inflicted by brutal attacks with scalding liquid. On seeing the officers, he could only whisper, “thank you”.

Jailed Captors Blame Victims for Drug Warehouse Collapse

Arrests were made downstairs as police detained Lithuanian Valdemaras Kasinskas and Albanian Andi Alushi on suspicion of wounding. DCI Mark Oughton said:

“What officers found inside that house was deeply disturbing – clear evidence of barbaric torture. Kasinskas and Alushi violently beat one victim and burned him, causing serious injuries.”

The investigation revealed the sadistic duo’s twisted motive: to extort money from their victims’ families in Albania. The pair blamed the men for the bust of their cannabis warehouse. They filmed the degrading abuse, hoping to blackmail the families for cash.

Justice Served: Long Sentences for Brutal Captors

Last month, at Sheffield Crown Court, 27-year-old Alushi and 39-year-old Kasinskas pleaded guilty to false imprisonment. Today, both were sentenced to 19-and-a-half years behind bars. DCI Oughton praised the victims’ bravery and international police teamwork:

“Faced with overwhelming evidence, the criminals had no choice but to plead guilty. This result owes everything to the courageous victims and dedicated officers.”

More details on this international probe will be released in the coming days.
