Jessica Baker: Family Thanks Public After Tragic M53 Crash
The family of 15-year-old Jessica Baker have issued a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has offered support following the devastating road traffic collision on the M53 in Wirral.
Jessica was a rising star in the climbing world, competing nationally for seven years and representing North 123. She was on the verge of starting her coaching qualifications to inspire others.
Remembering a Young Climbing Talent and Friend
Despite her youth, Jessica had an extraordinary gift for connecting with people of all ages. She regularly helped fellow climbers overcome hurdles and reach new heights.
To honour her memory, an online ‘MuchLoved’ tribute page has been set up. Friends and family can share pictures, videos, and memories. The family also ask for donations to “Climbers Against Cancer,” a charity close to Jessica’s heart.
Investigation Continues Into Fatal Crash
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit expressed condolences to Jessica’s family and to Stephen Shrimpton’s family, the bus driver who also died in the crash.
“We’re continuing the enquiry and urge anyone with information to come forward,” said DS Roper.
Support is being given to the other 57 children involved in the accident, and gratitude was extended to those who assisted immediately after the incident.
Public Urged to Help Solve Tragedy
The police will submit their investigation to the coroner ahead of an inquest early next year. Anyone with information can contact the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit or connect via social media.
