A suspected drug dealer made a wild dash through Gravesend on an e-bike – but Kent Police had the skies covered. Drone pilots caught the 19-year-old in the act, leading to a dramatic arrest in the town centre.
Drone Footage Pins Down Suspect
On Saturday 3 January 2026, Kent Police launched a crackdown on illegal e-bikes and e-scooters in Gravesend. Drones spotted the teenager making what looked like a dodgy drug deal.
When an officer tried to stop him, the man rammed into the cop and tried to flee. But the drone team tracked his every move, directing officers straight to him. Police seized 26 bags of cannabis on the spot.
Teen Arrested on Multiple Serious Charges
- Possession with intent to supply
- Dangerous driving
- Assault on an emergency worker
- Criminal damage
The 19-year-old from Gravesend was arrested and later bailed while investigations continue.
Illegal E-Bikes and Scooters Confiscated
During the same operation, officers swooped on riders in the High Street, seizing eight illegal e-bikes and e-scooters. All offenders were slapped with Traffic Offence Reports.
Inspector Tom Elliott from Gravesend Community Safety Unit warned: “It is against the law to use e-scooters on public streets, pavements or cycle lanes. They are only allowed on private land with permission or in government trial areas – and Kent has none.”
“Riding e-scooters on public roads is dangerous and without insurance, innocent people could end up footing the bill. We’ll keep up active patrols and anyone caught riding illegally will face action.”
