Guildford Man Dies in Shocking Pony and Trap Crash
A horrific collision involving a pony and trap and a car has claimed the life of a Guildford man in Bursledon. The tragic crash happened just after 11.30pm on Sunday, March 26, on Portsmouth Road.
Victim Named: William Gaskin, 33
William Gaskin, 33, from Worplesdon, Guildford, was riding in the pony and trap when it smashed into a Volkswagen Bora. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Southampton General Hospital, where he sadly died shortly after arrival.
The driver of the car escaped without any injuries.
Police Launch Serious Collision Investigation
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are hunting witnesses who saw the crash or either vehicle beforehand. A 28-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until July 26 pending further inquiries.
