A man from Colne, Lancashire, has been sentenced to 11 years and 10 months in prison after pleading guilty to a violent attack on two women at a family gathering last year. Dilnawaz Hussain, 28, of Duke Street, was also designated a dangerous offender by the Preston Crown Court, which imposed an additional five-year extended license period upon his release.

The incident occurred on the night of August 11, 2023, when Hussain, wearing a balaclava, forcefully entered the backyard of a residence close to his own home where the party was being held. Armed with a monkey wrench, Hussain launched an unprovoked attack on the two women. He struck one victim with the wrench, causing severe facial and head injuries. He then punched and kicked the second woman to the ground and continued the assault using a sound bar as a weapon.
