Colne Man Locked Up for Brutal Family Yard Attack
A violent brawl at a family gathering in Colne, Lancashire, has landed Dilnawaz Hussain, 28, behind bars for nearly 12 years. The Duke Street resident pleaded guilty to a savage assault on two women last August.
Masked and Menacing: Sound Bar Used as Weapon
On August 11, 2023, Hussain, masked with a balaclava, broke into a backyard at a house. He launched a vicious attack using a sound bar to batter his victims.
Violence Sparks From Earlier Dispute
The savage assault followed a prior clash between Hussain and one of the household members, which had already seen him arrested. Motive appears tied to this earlier dispute.
Victims Left Seriously Injured
- One woman suffered serious head and facial trauma.
- The second was left with cuts and wounds on her forehead, face, and arms.
Detective Constable Natalie Swindells of Burnley CID said: “This was a violent assault in which Hussain was armed with a weapon. It was unprovoked and two innocent people suffered injuries. We will not tolerate violence and will thoroughly investigate assaults so that violent offenders face justice.”
Hussain was branded a dangerous offender by Preston Crown Court. Besides his 11 years and 10 months behind bars, he faces a five-year extended license upon release.
The sentence offers some relief and closure to victims and their families after nearly a year of trauma. The court’s tough stance sends a clear message: violent attacks won’t be tolerated in the community.
