Police swooped on a 56-year-old man in East London at around 5:40am on Monday, 17 July. The arrest was part of a high-stakes anti-terror operation.
Canadian National Nabbed at Heathrow
Later that day, at 12:35pm, officers detained a 28-year-old Canadian man as he landed at Heathrow Airport from Canada.
Terrorism Act Charges and Extended Detention
Both men face suspicion of belonging to a banned terrorist organisation, breaking Section 11 of the Terrorism Act 2000. They remain held under Section 41 at a West London police station.
Westminster Magistrates’ Court has approved their detention until Monday, 24 July, allowing detectives more time to gather evidence.
