Doctor Jailed for Secretly Filming and Assaulting Patients During Exams

Sexual Health Expert Exploited Trust at Bournemouth Clinic

Dr Timothy Girling, 55, from West Molesey, Surrey, has been locked up for six years after abusing his role as a sexual health doctor. At a Bournemouth clinic, Girling used routine medical exams as a cover to sexually assault patients and secretly film them. In one chilling incident, he touched a patient’s genitals without consent, claiming it was part of the exam. The victim later heard a phone recording behind a curtain and caught Girling hiding an iPhone in his pocket—triggering a police investigation.

Hidden Footage Reveals Pattern of Abuse

Dorset Police seized Girling’s phone and uncovered intimate images of numerous victims. One patient was targeted repeatedly over more than a year. Investigators also found Girling persuaded a patient to email him nude photos and secretly filmed a young patient without permission. A search of his home uncovered even more covert videos. Police confirmed none had any medical purpose—they were created solely for Girling’s sick gratification.

Guilty on Multiple Charges Including Child Porn Offences

Girling was convicted of voyeurism by a jury and later admitted to three counts of making indecent images of children, including the most severe Category A files found on his laptop. His full sentence covers:

  • Three counts of sexual assault
  • Six counts of voyeurism
  • One count of attempted voyeurism
  • Three counts of making indecent images of children

Lucy Paddick from the Crown Prosecution Service slammed Girling for “repeatedly violating” the sacred trust of patients, calling his actions “deeply calculated” and disguised as legitimate medical care.

Detective Constable Kit Little praised the victims for their courage and revealed Dorset Police had worked “tirelessly” since the first complaint in August 2023 to ensure Girling faced justice.
