GoFundMe for American Driver Facing UK Dangerous Driving Charges Pulled

Crash on Herefordshire Road Leaves Nurse Seriously Injured

A GoFundMe campaign raising legal funds for 22-year-old American Issac Calderon was abruptly removed. Calderon faces charges for causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a crash on July 31 on the A4103 near Shucknall, Herefordshire.

British nurse Elizabeth Donowho suffered devastating injuries in the collision, including two broken ankles, a fractured sternum, and a broken hand.

Fugitive Driver Linked to US Intelligence and Military

Matters worsened when Calderon skipped a hearing at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on December 1, prompting a warrant for his arrest. Donowho revealed that UK police told her Calderon has ties to US intelligence and visited a British special forces base in Hereford.

In court documents, Calderon’s job was listed as “American soldier,” sparking fresh intrigue amid the ongoing case.

Case Draws Parallels with Controversial US Spy Incident

The saga mirrors the notorious Anne Sacoolas case, where a US spy fled the UK after a fatal crash in Northamptonshire in 2019, killing teenager Harry Dunn.

Family Speaks Out Before Fundraiser Shutdown

Before the GoFundMe page was removed, Calderon’s father Manuel shared details of his son’s plight. He said Issac, working as a contractor with security clearance via the Texas National Guard, suffered concussion-related injuries and a fractured humerus.

Issac currently cannot access medical treatment until January due to insurance restrictions.

The fundraiser aimed for $15,000 (£12,000) but had only reached a third of its target before it was taken down.

The case continues to unfold, stirring questions about legal processes and possible international complications.
