Triple Life Sentence for Killer in Shocking Triple Murder of Ex and Family
Brutal Killings Rock Hertfordshire
Kyle Clifford, 26, of Enfield, has been slammed with three whole life orders at Cambridge Crown Court for the savage murders of his ex-girlfriend Louise Hunt, her mum Carol, and sister Hannah in a chilling attack that horrified the nation.
Clifford, who refused to attend his sentencing, also copped a 20-year jail term for raping Louise, alongside concurrent sentences for false imprisonment and possession of offensive weapons. This means he’ll rot behind bars for life—no parole, no chance of freedom.
Calculated Carnage in Bushey
On July 9, 2024, mere weeks after Louise ended their 18-month relationship, Clifford launched a brutal, premeditated assault on the Hunt family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire.
Armed with a crossbow and knife, he raped and murdered 25-year-old Louise, fatally stabbed her 61-year-old mother Carol, then used the crossbow to kill her 28-year-old sister Hannah. Police uncovered meticulous planning, revealing his intent to wipe out the entire family.
A tense 22-hour manhunt ended with Clifford caught hiding in a cemetery in Enfield.
Trial Unmasks Ruthless Killer
Clifford pleaded guilty to murder, false imprisonment, and weapons offences in January but fought the rape charge. On March 6, a jury swiftly found him guilty of raping Louise after just 45 minutes of deliberation.
The full sentencing order includes:
- Three whole life orders for the murders
- 20 years for rape
- Eight years for false imprisonment
- One year each for possession of the crossbow and knife
All sentences will run concurrently with his life terms.
Justice Served, But Pain Remains
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardner, who led the investigation, said:“While we welcome the whole life orders, nothing will ever make up for the loss of three vibrant women in the prime of their lives. Clifford now has a lifetime to consider the devastation he caused.”
Gardner praised Hannah’s bravery for raising the alarm during the attack, which helped snap the manhunt. Senior Crown Prosecutor Lisa Kiff added:
“Clifford is a murderer and rapist who tried every tactic to escape justice. Securing the rape conviction was crucial to recognising Louise’s suffering.”
Family’s Courage and Calls for Change
The Hunt family has shown remarkable strength, attending court daily despite the trauma. In a statement, they thanked supporters and vowed to keep Louise, Carol, and Hannah’s memories alive.
The case has sparked alarm over crossbow availability in the UK, with calls mounting for tougher laws after such a horrific weapon was used in a cold-blooded crime.
Legacy of a Horrific Crime
Clifford’s sentencing closes the court chapter, but his actions leave a lasting impact, highlighting the dangers of domestic abuse and the critical need for justice for silenced victims.
