Gun and Drugs Bust in North London: Man Slapped with Serious Charges

Azeem Akhtar, 29, was caught red-handed in north London after officers from the Met’s Violent Crime Taskforce stopped a vehicle on the evening of Thursday, 12 November.

Armed and Dangerous: Scorpion Submachine Gun Seized

Police found a prohibited weapon—a Scorpion submachine gun—with a barrel less than 30cm long in Akhtar’s possession. This alone landed him in hot water.

Court Appearance and Ongoing Probe

Akhtar was held in custody and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 14 November. He’s been remanded to Harrow Crown Court for a hearing on Friday, 11 December.

Meanwhile, two other men, aged 29 and 30, have been released on bail as investigations continue.
