Wales Man Banned for 3 Years After Shocking M4 Crash
Samuel Kevis, 30, from Aberdare, has been slapped with a driving ban and a hefty penalty after a drink-drive smash on the M4 near Swindon.
High-Speed Crash on the M4
In the early hours of February 13, Kevis was driving a Renault Clio when he lost control on the motorway. His car swerved wildly, crossing all three lanes before smashing into the central reservation. Shockingly, Kevis then left the vehicle and was spotted wandering on the hard shoulder on the opposite side of the road.
Drink Driving Behind Deadly Crash
- Kevis blew 76 at roadside breath test.
- Blood samples revealed 153 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml—almost double the legal limit of 80.
- Sentenced at Swindon Magistrates Court on December 11.
- Disqualified from driving for over three years.
- Must complete 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £1,000 in costs.
Police Warn Against Reckless Driving This Christmas
Roads Policing Officer Craig Beales blasted Kevis’ recklessness: “It’s fortunate no-one was seriously injured. His selfish actions put many at risk.” “This case highlights why we’ve stepped up our road safety campaign targeting the fatal five offences. Drink driving remains a leading cause of serious crashes. It’s infuriating that people like Kevis still get behind the wheel while unfit to drive.”
“With Christmas approaching, we urge drivers to plan their journey home and never drink or take drugs before driving. Our Roads Policing Unit will be increasing patrols during the festive season, working with partners to catch offenders.”
