Big Drug Bust Rocks Poole and Bournemouth
Three drug dealers have been locked up following a major police crackdown in Dorset. Jose Ivo Ferreira, 30, a drifter with no fixed address, snagged 12 years behind bars. Dean Wesley Lovell, 30, from Poole, got nine and a half years. Fleur Marie Newman, 28, from Bournemouth, was sentenced to seven years.
Massive Drug Haul Worth Over £1 Million
The Bournemouth Crown Court handed down the sentences on 16 October 2020. Ferreira admitted conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs back in December 2019. Lovell and Newman pleaded guilty to drug supply offences in August 2020.
Police smashed the ring after a long-running Dorset Police Serious Organised Crime Investigation Team (SOCIT) probe from May to November 2019. The trio were caught supplying heroin, cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, and cannabis across Poole and Bournemouth.
Evidence Mounts with Surveillance and Raids
- Ferreira and Lovell were nabbed in Poole’s Rossmore area with over £12,000 cash, ketamine, and MDMA in their car.
- Phones seized showed drug adverts targeting local users.
- Newman arrested at her flat with Ferreira where nearly 1kg of cocaine, cannabis, and cash were found.
- Other police raids uncovered four more cocaine blocks worth a combined kilo in a garage car.
Total seizures included drugs valued at more than £1 million and over £60,000 in cash.
Police Praise Investigation and Sentence
“This was one of the largest ever seizures by Dorset Police,” said Detective Inspector Jamie Halford. “Ferreira was a major player, dealing in up to 70kg of class A and 50kg of class B drugs, purchasing 10kg of cocaine at a time and using multiple drivers to deliver.”
Halford added: “This investigation took months of careful evidence gathering to dismantle a serious supply network. We recognise the harm drugs cause in our communities and are committed to rooting out these criminals.”
The crackdown sends a clear warning: Dorset’s top dealers won’t get off lightly.
