Man Fatally Stabbed on Conduit Street: Murder Probe Underway
A 59-year-old man has been fatally stabbed on Conduit Street, sparking a murder investigation by the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU).
Quick Arrest Made Near Scene
East Midlands Ambulance Service alerted police around 7:30pm BST after attending the victim. Despite emergency treatment, the man died shortly afterwards. A 29-year-old suspect was arrested near the scene and is now in police custody on suspicion of murder.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
“A lot of people were in and around Conduit Street at the time of the incident and would have witnessed what happened. I would urge them to come forward and speak to us,”
said Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski, who is leading the investigation.
He thanked those who have already helped and urged anyone present between 7pm and 7:30pm on September 30 to get in touch—especially drivers with dash-cam footage.
Investigation Ongoing as Street Remains Sealed
Conduit Street is still cordoned off as detectives work to preserve the crime scene. Next of kin have been informed, and a post-mortem is planned.
Authorities aim to keep disruption to a minimum during local events on Sunday, October 1, while the investigation continues.
